What we're about

get to know us a bit better

THE GOSPEL

This is at the heart of who we are, what we do, and the message we share.
One way we describe the gospel is with 5 Solas - these are Latin phrases explaining the essentials of salvation.

The 5 Solas

1. SOLA FIDE
[by faith alone]
Picture

What do they mean?

How can anyone be saved?

Not by doing good things, but only by faith in the work of Jesus Christ.

2. SOLA SCRIPTURA
[by Scripture alone]
Picture
Where do we find the truth of salvation?
Only in God's perfect word, the Scriptures, the Bible.

3. SOLUS CHRISTUS
[through Christ alone]
Picture
Who saves?

It is only Jesus Christ. He gives us his righteousness while he takes the punishment for our sin.

4. SOLA GRATIA
[by grace alone]
Picture
How can salvation happen?
Sinful hearts can never put their faith in Jesus. God intervenes in our hearts by giving us his grace so that we can have faith.

5. SOLI DEO GLORIA
[glory to God alone]

What is the point of salvation?
While there are many benefits we enjoy in salvation, the surpassing goal is the glory of God.

The Story

This message is simple enough for the youngest child to grasp, but so difficult that some of the wisest do not understand. We could explain it in Latin or French, but if we claim to know anything it is this, the good news and life-changing message of Jesus Christ: his life, death and resurrection. The story is easy to follow, but the challenge is this. Will your heart be changed by it?

Have you Responded to the Gospel?

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son in to the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." John 3:16-18

The motivation [for worship] is the never changing, most holy and perfect creator, sustainer, almighty God and savior.
The emotion [in worship] is the response, a most delightful privilege.

Worship is thus both reasonable and enjoyable; that we might experience a sensation of grace, translating what is objectively true into a fantastic and captivating subjective reality.

What a grace that we can enjoy God’s praise.
